Every cause has its effect and every effect has its cause; everything happens according to Law. Nothing escapes the Law. The reason we are humans is because we forgot about the Law of Cause and Effect before we became humans.

On this physical plane a dream, though it seems very long during the dream, actually is only about a second or two in time. The dream of Humanity through which we are now passing seems to be eons and eons in duration. When we finally awaken in the Realm of Harmony we may find that it was only an instant of Time.

Under the Law of Cause and Effect, we have the possibility, no matter how dark the conditions seem, that if we do the right things we must and will get the right effect.

A deeper exploration into the Law of Cause and Effect

We were reincarnated upon this planet because our vibrations harmonized with its vibrations, that is, this Earth’s vibration is such that it will allow us to give expression to all contained in our own individual vibration.

Why we were born to the particular parents we call father and mother each Lightbearer knows. But have we given thought of why we meet the particular people we do each day? And just what really is the meaning or truth of their conduct towards us?

All expression must have a medium through which to express. Water must have some channel through which to flow, for example, a pipe. But once the pipe is connected very little thought is given to it. We think only of the water.

When Man fell on the mental plane, he, so to speak, turned his world upside down by cutting off acknowledgement of his source, the realization that he was only a channel, and centered his attention on himself and the material. This was due to the fact that the body is the only channel of expression or action we have on the physical plane. And in his self centerment man gradually refused to consider any power other than that which he contracted through his senses.

We concede that “Thoughts are things,” and that the sowing and reaping of them is like unto the planting and harvesting of a field of grain. Our subconsciousness is the storehouse of our thoughts – of all the thoughts we have allowed planted there. And if we are to believe that the same law governs always everything everywhere in the same way, then we must accept that the same process happens to our thoughts that happens when we plant the grain seed in the ground.

While our thoughts move very quickly our physical machinery is slowed down so that many more thoughts are thought than deeds enacted, and we get years and incarnations behind in reaping the harvest.

So far we all fully accept the working of the law. “By word of mouth we acclaim it. By good deeds we proclaim it.” But now when it comes to “gathering in the sheaves,” to the harvesting of our own crop – how do we act? What do we say? And what do we think? “There’s the rub.” What thought do we again plant, the harvest of which we must again sometime somewhere reap? Brother in Eternity, this is the high hurdle of the race and do we not all drag our feet when we take it?

Let us see. Up from our subconsciousness comes a thought, fully matured and ready for the harvest. We must gather it in, for we can no more ignore it than the huge boulder can stop the growth of the tiny tree. But how does that thought affect us? How does it make itself known? Does it knock on the door and say, “Here I am, please may I come in? Maybe you don’t remember me; it’s been so long since I was planted.” Oh, no, sleepers-on-the-job, we don’t get it back like that. We get it just like the other fellow got it when we sowed it. When we are off guard it quietly but boldly steps out the back door. But what is that thought? It is so many words in Chinese, French or Greek preserved in sugar or pickled in vinegar? Again, No. It’s just a certain rate of vibration. It is fully matured and ready for the harvest. It knows its business. It is law abiding. It permeates our aura with all the intensity and power we, in the first process, gave it – plus. It sends out a call for a vibration of its kind for “like attracts like,” and it must attract a human being who can express the same rate of vibration. For through that medium only can it bring home to us our harvest.

And what happens in that process? Perhaps from an unexpected source or from a stranger we receive a kindness. Sometimes we hesitate to accept it. But if we are real students we will welcome that kindness with thanks to God for the working of such a law and an increase in Faith in ourselves and our ability to keep our feet on the path.

But the vibration which we wish to consider may not attract to us kindness. It may mean heartache, a loss, unkind words, or a seeming “injustice.” How do we deal with that? Is it any the less our child? If the law works in one case it must work in every case, there can be no exceptions. So we have to give the same thanks to the same God, for the working of the same law for bringing home a black sheep, making the sum total one less that we will have to welcome.
